If there’s one thing weed smokers can take solace in, it’s the fact that there are a lot of good stoner movies on Netflix. From classics like Cheech and Chong: Up In Smoke to more modern movies like Kid Cannabis, this list of the best weed movies on Netflix has something for everyone. There are also some good weed documentaries on Netflix, such as The Culture High and Super-High Me. I’ve watched every film on this list, and can honestly say you can enjoy any of these movies, regardless of whether you’re baked or not.

If you’re looking for movies to watch while you’re high on Netflix, most of these stoner comedies will do the trick. However if you’re looking for something trippy or weird, you’re probably better off watching some UFO documentaries or something.

1. Clerks

I’m not even supposed to be here today! The movie that made Kevin Smith a household name, Clerks is the indie darling project that could. Shot in black and white, this stoner flick follows a day in the life of convenience store clerks Dante and Randal in a small town in New Jersey. They converse about weird things like how Top Gun is totally gay, all while interacting with the customers around them, which include Jay and Silent Bob.

2. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

Jay and Silent Bob have always been side characters in Smith’s films, but they finally got a chance to do their own thing with 2001’s Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. With cameos by Will Ferrell, Jason Biggs, Matt Damon and more, this is definitely a great stoner movie with a ton of laughs (and plenty toilet humor to match.) If you’re not already smiling after Jay sings his drug dealer song in the beginning of the movie, you can probably just turn it off and save yourself the time.

3. Kid Cannabis

I hadn’t heard of Kid Cannabis before seeing it on Netflix, but I have to say this is a pretty decent stoner movie. The film follows the young Nate Norman, a pudgy, high school dropout who smokes way too much weed, and his journey of transporting weed between the U.S. and Canada. The film has a “straight to Netflix” kind of vibe to it, but in today’s age that just means it’s a good indie movie. Plus, with appearances by Ron Perlman and John C. McGinley, it’s definitely got at least a little star power.

4. The Culture High

With appearances from famous stoners like Snoop Dogg, Joe Rogan, and Wiz Khalifa, The Culture High just might become your favorite weed documentary not just on Netflix, but of all time. This feature-length documentary takes a look the war on drugs in the United States, focusing mostly on the marijuana prohibition. A lot has changed since the documentary was released, but most of the information is still very relevant.

5. Super High Me

Doug Benson’s Super High Me follows the comedian around while he spends 30 days sober, and then 30 days high on marijuana. Benson does things like take the SAT, sperm counts, and more both while high and sober, and the results are certainly interesting. The movie’s title is a play on Morgan Spurlock’s Supersize Me, which made a big splash in 2004.

6. Wayne’s World

I’m not sure if I’d call Wayne’s World a movie about marijuana, but it is a hilarious stoner comedy that just about any toker will have a good time watching.

7. Trailer Park Boys: Don’t Legalize It

If you’re not familiar with Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles yet, it’s about time you get to know them. Trailer Park Boys is one of the best stoner shows of all time, and Trailer Park Boys: Don’t Legalize It is a fantastic stoner movie on Netlflix. I know what you’re thinking- “DON’T legalize it? You’re harshing my mellow brah!” The movie has that title because Ricky is a dope dealer, and he’s trying to prevent his business going away once pot becomes legal. I recommend watching a few episodes of Trailer Park Boys before checking this one out, which is also on Netflix.

8. Evergreen: The Road to Legalization

This movie is a tiny bit dated, but it’s still a great documentary about weed. Evergreen tells the story of the state of Washington, and their experience with legalizing marijuana and the fights that come with it.

9. Don’t Be a Menace

Again, this isn’t as much of a weed movie as it is a stoner comedy, but it still deserves to be on this list. Don’t Be a Menace is one of the funniest movies of all time, starring Shawn and Marlon Wayans as Loc Dog and Ashtray. This film gives a lighthearted look into what it’s like to grow up in an urban area, where most everyone is poor and drug dealers and gangs are rampant.

10. Cheech and Chong: Up In Smoke

The Godfather of all stoner movies, Cheech and Chonng: Up In Smoke was an absolute staple in the 1970s. This film basically invented the stoner comedy genre, and there wasn’t a toker in America who didn’t know Cheech and Chong when this movie came out. It’s hard to say if it holds up for today’s generation of blazers, but give it a shot and see if you like it.
